Frequently Asked
Questions

What brand of Electrical panels should be replaced.

Federal Pacific Electric panels also know as FPE.  This company went out of business and sold after a class action lawsuit in 2005 was closed.  The breakers don’t always function as they should to clear a fault condition causing a fire hazard.   Most Home inspectors and Insurance companies these days inform home buyers and owners these panels need to be replaced.

Should I change my lamps in my house to LED?

LED’s have come along ways over the past decade.   The price has become more affordable.   We would recommend changing out any old incandescent lamps to new LED lamps.   Changing out luminaires to LED will help decrease the overall electrical cost.  The homeowner also saves money in overall maintenance in the upkeep of the light fixtures.

How does the Generac home standby generator work?

The Generac generator is installed to provide power to the property when the utility is lost.   The Automatic Transfer Switch monitors the Utility power.   Once power is lost the ATS sends a start command to the Generator.   The Generator then starts, and once the unit is up to speed and producing the correct voltage.   The ATS senses that the Generator is ready for a load and transfers the house to Generator power.    Once the Utility is restored the ATS will sense this.   The ATS will wait approximately 5 minutes to make sure the power is stable.  After that time the ATS will transfer power back to the Utility power and perform a 5 minute cool down.   At which time the Generator shuts off and is ready for the next power outage.
